Web 2.0 Tools

Web 2.0 tools are a part of our everyday life. I have picked the top 10 for teachers to use in the classroom and investigated them...

Addictomatic

Addictomatic is a search engine kind of like your typical google or bing websites but it has a twist. When searching a topic in this app it pulls the material from the web and presents it in a way that is very organized and attention grabbing. While using this tool I also figured out that if you search a certain topic and find some material that you really enjoy, you have the ability to create yourself a page with this researched material in it. I believe that when I become a teacher this tool could help my students in many different ways when they needed to research a topic or even a person. It would be possible to have student projects set up and ran while using this tool by having them make pages of their own with information on an assigned topic and have them turn in the link.

Haikuls

Haiku is a tool that enables teaches to set up a digital learning environment with ease. It gives teachers a way to present lessons and work to students through an online tool where they can work on this anywhere there is internet and some type of device where they pull it up. Haiku even has the ability to auto-grade work for teachers and since teachers have such a busy day this helps out tremendously. This tool could greatly help teachers by allowing them to post stuff the students might need for homework or projects if they had forgot to present it in class or even just post helpful tips and things without wasting paper. Teachers could also use this tool and set up different classes for example a high school teacher might have 7 different classes in a day, the teacher can set up 7 different classes under her name and the student would be able to just go to his or class material.

Yodio

Yodio is a slideshow tool that allows a person to add audio to a picture or video for other people to be able to see and hear. The yodio website has step by step instructional videos that make this process easy and available for just about anyone to do. Yodio looks easy and is as easy as it seems, therefore I would not hesitate to suggest this tool to anyone in any profession. As a teacher I could use yodio in my classroom to post pictures or videos to the students with my audio on the file so if I happened to have a sore throat and did not want to talk or simply could be busy and getting something else done, I could just show the file and audio while the students watched. Yodio could also be a good way for students to still be able to learn the material needed to be covered even if the teacher is absent because the teacher could record himself and sent it in to the classroom and the sub or another teacher could pull it up and play it for the students to get taught the lesson.

Yudu

Yudu is a writing tool that could be used for students or teachers inside and outside of the classroom. Yudu is a tool that can be used in the classroom to make digital magazines, digital brochures, and ebooks. This tool makes it easy to post the works into a website or any other way that you might want to present the works of publication. I could use this tool in my classroom to make brochures or magazines for parents and students and post them to my class website for them to see with important information they might not otherwise find out about. I could also have the students do projects for the class assignments in which they make brochures and/or magazines and post the best ones to the class website.

Bubblus

Bubblus is a tool that helps to organize thought and ideas into flow charts to present to the students or for students to use to make their life easier when gathering information. This flow chart and branch and go whatever way you would like it to using different color bubbles to organize the material you are putting into it. This tool could come in handy for any situation in which the teacher wanted to first see what the student was thinking before they begin working. In a classroom setting bubblus could be used by the teacher and the students to make flow charts for any reason necessary. Students could use bubblus for writing a paper, preparing for a project, or anything else that involves the student think or ideas before they start working on it.

Braingle

Braingle is a creativity tool which would be used to help the students to unwind and get their minds free from school for a little while so they could give themselves a break. Sometimes as a teacher it is important that you do not constantly crunch work, work, work on a student and let them have some fun so they look forward to coming to class. When a student has fun while learning is when they will learn the most and this tool is a great one to ensure that the student is having fun and is also learning material that they can use in the classroom. Braingle would be a tool that I could use in my classroom because I could allow the students to have fun on games and at the same time know that they are doing something productive. Students would seem to think that they are having a free when in actuality they are doing work just in a fun manner and at their own pace.

My Studiyo

My Studiyo is a quiz and poll tool that allows teachers to create quizzes in any template they like and use them to give to the students electronically or by paper. A good quiz maker could come in handy for a teacher because it beats having to try and get Microsoft word to work correctly when they can just put the questions in here and it makes the quiz for the teacher as easy as 1, 2, 3. The My Studiyo tool will even grade the multiple choice quizzes and short answer quizzes if the teacher would like for it to. I could use My Studiyo in my classroom because quizzes are a great way to make your students pay attention during class and this tool allows you to make quizzes easily and quickly. This tool also allows the teacher to make the quiz any kind of quiz that would like such as multiple choice, short answer, one word answer, and others. This tool could help making quizzes one less worry on a teachers mind.

Chartle

Chartle is a graphing tool that allows anyone to create, embed, and share the charts and graphs that are made from this tool. Chartle seems to make the process of charting and graphing easy for any person that needs a decent chart or graph for any reason. It is simple to make a chart or graph in Chartle because the author of the chart or graph simply picks the kind of chart or graph and put the information in that will be used and it generates the chart they were wanting. This could be a good tool for the classroom because it takes time to teach someone how to make a graph or chart in word and make it look and work right so using Charlte would be better and definitely more time consuming. This tool could also be used by the teacher of a classroom to show results from a test or quiz to emphasis studying and paying attention.

PreZentit

PreZentit is a tool that allows people to create presentations similar to others within powerpoint and other presentation tools. This tool makes the presentation into a web page so that it can be reached by anyone with the URL at anytime. The presentation process of this tool is easy to learn and seems to be the way of ease regarding presentation making for a group. I could use this tool in my classroom because it is easy for the students to use and would be available for every student. PreZentit is available for free for the student at home as long as they have internet and can be pulled up by laptop, computer, phone, and any other device that contains internet. Groups of students can also work on this from different locations at the same time.

Songza

Songza is a music tool that allows the user to listen to free music at anytime, anywhere. Songza is a great tool for teachers and students that like to listen to music while they work or to simply calm themselves. This tool is easy to find music genres and different songs that the listener wants to listen to. I would use this tool in my classroom to play music when the students first enter the classroom to set the mood of the classroom and hopefully help the student to be happy and forget their problems from earlier in the day. Music helps the mind calm and relax and can even help set the emotional tone of the classroom.
